A Memorable quote from "Captain Corelli's Mandolin"

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

Hi...I read your blog first time today...and I have something to put forward.."Love is a temporary madness"- I feel this isnt correct. I feel a divine feeling (not all people get true love) and its more of a doing the same what you would do for urself for someone else whom you love.

Everybody has different opinions about it, but I feel I have put forth what I felt.

Hi Anamika,

Thanks for the comments. I don't think you got the full picture of the quote. It says Love feels like a temporary madness at the beginning, but true love is much more stable than that madness as it stays post initial days.

I guess many people will interpret it differently.
