The Beginning

Oh…I am bored of writing blogs about marriages :-( . What else can I do? Just before the eventful year (not so eventful for me) dies, I attended yet another or perhaps the most wonderful wedding that I have ever been to. Largely it may have been due to the company I had during the day, who were as dear and wonderful as the bride and groom themselves or may be it’s the first wedding of my batch-mets which made it much more exciting. Let’s not forget that they looked as ready to be married as I myself. (This is sarcastic, I am mentioning explicitly to stay on a safer side :-) ) The time flew by and the day passed with the blink of an eye. However the laughter, fun and sheer joy couldn’t prevent me from wondering the more serious aspects of the event.

Though by looking at the faces of my friends I marked only happiness, I wondered whether they were nervous. I certainly was!!! The idea of spending rest of our lives with a person was not new to me, yet thinking about it realistically was surely scary. Think about it- There is no turning back. You can’t drop it like a hobby and you have to live with this decision through the most beautiful sunsets and worst of the storms. Again looking from another perspective, living together for the whole life may not be as difficult as finding the person itself. And when you do, you would want it again and again and one life wouldn’t be enough. (It’s my belief and may not be practical…so you can laugh at it)

I have always kind of wondered what makes life worth living. And the answers always have boiled down to one word through different means. Its “passion”. You can be passionate about painting, reading or career, but what better could be than being passionately attached to another person and live together. Well certainly sounds corny though.

Coming back to Som and Ruchi (The groom and the bride) Wait a minute!!! Did I forget to mention the main characters and wrote half the blog?? Seriously my writing skills are degrading. Well coming back to them, I was thinking about those two classmets and how I met them first time seven years back. It certainly doesn’t feel that long ago though. Som was as always the perfect gentleman with unusual musical talent and one of my inspirations to be always humble.( I am not sure how much I followed him). For Ruchi I have got two things, “Singing sensation” and “Basanti”. (To know the Basanti tale please call me before you forget. I am sure most NISTIANS must be remembering it till now) Honestly they both made me realize how grownups we have become and still how much fun we still have left. Their out of blue dance after reception was cute (Som was clumsy though) and the finishing two songs sung by Ruchi was awesome. (I had to face the displeasure of Som for torturing his newly wed wife by making her sing. Well his brother was another culprit who escaped the wrath, but I am sure he will have his day.)

To end this slowly becoming boring blog, I would say it was indeed a wonderful and eye opening event which not only gave me opportunity to catch up my old dear friends but make new wonderful ones too!!!! :-)

Yet another beginning

Working-wife or House-wife

Disclaimer: This is just a topic and my sole support and loyalty lies towards all the bachelorhood and poor husbands

Here goes another interesting topic. I bet most of the people may differ to what I am going to say, however this is my own perspective and there is a beautiful option to add comments at the end of the blog. So please use the feature. :-) Again I am sure, as I have always been that this blog won't be as interesting as the topic itself. So please bear with me through this reading and join the debate at the end.

Since the beginning of the year 2007, I have witnessed more marriages (mostly my poor bachelor friends) than I have seen my entire life (This is expected and the exact count is 9). And we have had this conversation numerous times with each one of them without a serious thought, though I have tried as many times to avoid this conversation myself from my curious MUM as possible. She still hasn't given up asking. However I am not sure, she is going to find the answer here also.

Well if I ever have to answer this question about which one I would pick, the answer would be "I want both". :-D Don't get it wrong, I mean to say is a little bit of both on the same person. Its possible most of the time except few cases when a person chooses not to be wise and lacks compassion. My mother left her fellowship work in the middle after her post-graduation, to help me and my sister raise ourselves. And now that we have started taking care of us it leaves her jobless and aimless. I heard her once complaining to my father that he never helped her create an identity for herself and instead she created her identity through my father and us and she has nothing to look up to. This is certainly sad and not acceptable for any person (I really felt sorry because she is my beloved mum). We have a life to live and certainly that gives us a pure freedom to live like we want. Of course we should be kind and compassionate for others and more for ourselves and in fact while creating our identity; we must support others for the same.

Now the numerous complains that we hear is how working women never find time for her family. We all must accept that same applies to both guys and girls, but again not finding much time is always temporary unless we have used wrong sorting algorithm for our priorities. It all boils down to the fact that to make a home we need sincerity, willingness and love (The heavily spoken and sparingly used word) and obviously not time. I know several people reading must have snorted till now.

We can't avoid the fact that homes shatter with increase in pressure and mostly it happens due to ambition and proving the point. I guess girls reading this blog won't differ from me that they do want to make a home sacrificing bits of pieces of their career. But again there always are exceptions and so as with we guys.

(Dedicated to my Mum and her 30years of service towards me and my sister.)

Serendipity

....It was a bright sunny day. He parked the car and saw her while crossing the road. He stopped abruptly spellbound. Its been three years, he thought and yet she looked as stunning as ever. He really had never appreciated how beautiful she look, at least never acknowledged that to her.

Hey!

Oh...Hi!!!

What are you doing here, she asked with a mild surprise, I thought you were abroad.

Oh...you know about that, well just came back few days back, roaming around the city and realizing how much it has changed in last three years.

right!!

Is she happy to see me and why that surprised tone. Does she really think I will be one of those to take a green card and settle there. He thought to himself.

Er..well howz everyone and your boyfriend ? He asked with uncertainty. Shit!!! what the hell I am asking, he cursed himself.

The atmosphere got filled with lots of noise and he saw two large vehicles meting an accident. There were debris and broken glasses flying everywhere and with instinct he pulled her down and tried to cover her as much as possible.

....He was dreaming...she was standing on a railway track and shouting angrily, "You promised you will save me". He was running on something like a trade mill and couldn't reach her. He was trying to convince her that she can move herself and he needn't have to save her.

He woke up in a hospital bed and found her right besides him holding his hand. She looked at him at in a worried mock anger, You know you are stupid!!!

Yeah..er..we shouldn't talk while crossing roads, definitely lesson learnt, are you ok ?? he told.

Well..I am fine, but you've got a broken ankle and fifteen stitches on your back and what did you think while pushing me down like that.

Er...didn't get time to ask your permission, do I?..he said with a grin, surprised by his own humor at time like this.

She gave him a its-not-the-time-for-joke look.

Very funny....but you can't be the saint all the time, you know.

See, he said in a more serious tone, Its okay if I suffer a bit and seeing you happy takes out the suffering, but you know its unbearable to think the other way...and with these scars, I would look a little tough...he added easing things.

She remained expression less.

And as a matter of fact, you should leave now, otherwise if your boyfriend knows, it will cost me another ankle. And glad to see that you are happy with him, send me your marriage photos.

She sighed heavily like he is a hopeless case...and quietly sat there not intending to leave.

He knew something was not right, but didn't know what to do. He spoke to her like being in lot of strain not looking at her eyes.

Several silent moment passed....He started mumbling in a low voice without being able to restrict himself.

Do you know all that I told you was rubbish. Its been very difficult these three years and from the day I landed here, I was hoping to se you. It feels like I will bleed to death thinking you are with someone else and my worst nightmares are to see you marrying a faceless figure, that isn't me. As a matter of fact, I would never dare to look at your marriage photos...he finished in a single breath.

Then he looked at her.

She was looking at him with that blazing and determined look, that he liked so much. Then her lips curled to form a smile and she said, I do.

I have realized lately that all my previous posts were written in a bit serious tone and sounded much like lectures. So just an effort to write something that doesn't make sense :-)

I solemnly swear I am up to no good

Of all the blogs I have written, I didn’t miss a chance to explain the title of the blog in anyone and this is no exception. Those Harry Potter fans will recognize this without fail. This is a secret revealing spell of Hogwarts map written by four Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prong. That was little enough knowledge for you to butt into some Harry potter discussions.

So do you guyz think, I am going to reveal something or I am making a statement. My life is just as boring as it used to be, so let’s discuss something more general.

How many of you can swear that you are up to no good. I cannot answer myself. Sometimes we all feel that, we are successful may be because at the start of our career we are earning twice than what our parents are earning during their last phase of job. However the truth is mediocrity and laziness has consumed our enthusiasm and spirit. Well no offence to the readers who think they still have it. :-) Hats off to you.

I still remember in my first year engineering, I was filling a slambook and I wrote that my ambition is to have my own company. Now I think of owning a car. I can’t believe I am still the same guy. Like old Lambi scooters; I get sudden quick bursts and take resolutions which don’t last for even two weekends.

People say you sound frustrated, get married!!! One of my friends says…There are two solutions for a problem. Find the true solution, or create a bigger problem which will make you forget the small one. The second one sound interesting though. What am I missing in life??

“Motivation”, one of my favorite topics. I always remember HW Longfellow while talking about motivation

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!—
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
- A Psalm of Life

Well we always shouldn’t need a genious like HG Longfellow to kick our a** and motivate us. Motivation is something when someone reminds you that you need to do better. So guyz who don’t have inspiration ;-) Set your alarm on your phonebook and let it motivate you.

Some like me always love to hear “Those were the best days of my life!!!!” Common guyz wake up…Good morning!!! Can’t you remember how frustrating those days were also? :-) So forget everything and enjoy your life upto fullest !!!

Life is not about how many breaths you take!!
Its about the moments that takes your breath away!!!
-Hitch
[See this movie. It has beautiful dialogs :-))]

To conclude…my writing is not getting anywhere better with time. Sad!!!! Still I will not miss opportunity to let you know what I think. So give loads of comments and don’t forget to search the below line on web, otherwise you will never know what it means. :-)

Mischief Managed!!!!
