Serendipity

....It was a bright sunny day. He parked the car and saw her while crossing the road. He stopped abruptly spellbound. Its been three years, he thought and yet she looked as stunning as ever. He really had never appreciated how beautiful she look, at least never acknowledged that to her.

Hey!

Oh...Hi!!!

What are you doing here, she asked with a mild surprise, I thought you were abroad.

Oh...you know about that, well just came back few days back, roaming around the city and realizing how much it has changed in last three years.

right!!

Is she happy to see me and why that surprised tone. Does she really think I will be one of those to take a green card and settle there. He thought to himself.

Er..well howz everyone and your boyfriend ? He asked with uncertainty. Shit!!! what the hell I am asking, he cursed himself.

The atmosphere got filled with lots of noise and he saw two large vehicles meting an accident. There were debris and broken glasses flying everywhere and with instinct he pulled her down and tried to cover her as much as possible.

....He was dreaming...she was standing on a railway track and shouting angrily, "You promised you will save me". He was running on something like a trade mill and couldn't reach her. He was trying to convince her that she can move herself and he needn't have to save her.

He woke up in a hospital bed and found her right besides him holding his hand. She looked at him at in a worried mock anger, You know you are stupid!!!

Yeah..er..we shouldn't talk while crossing roads, definitely lesson learnt, are you ok ?? he told.

Well..I am fine, but you've got a broken ankle and fifteen stitches on your back and what did you think while pushing me down like that.

Er...didn't get time to ask your permission, do I?..he said with a grin, surprised by his own humor at time like this.

She gave him a its-not-the-time-for-joke look.

Very funny....but you can't be the saint all the time, you know.

See, he said in a more serious tone, Its okay if I suffer a bit and seeing you happy takes out the suffering, but you know its unbearable to think the other way...and with these scars, I would look a little tough...he added easing things.

She remained expression less.

And as a matter of fact, you should leave now, otherwise if your boyfriend knows, it will cost me another ankle. And glad to see that you are happy with him, send me your marriage photos.

She sighed heavily like he is a hopeless case...and quietly sat there not intending to leave.

He knew something was not right, but didn't know what to do. He spoke to her like being in lot of strain not looking at her eyes.

Several silent moment passed....He started mumbling in a low voice without being able to restrict himself.

Do you know all that I told you was rubbish. Its been very difficult these three years and from the day I landed here, I was hoping to se you. It feels like I will bleed to death thinking you are with someone else and my worst nightmares are to see you marrying a faceless figure, that isn't me. As a matter of fact, I would never dare to look at your marriage photos...he finished in a single breath.

Then he looked at her.

She was looking at him with that blazing and determined look, that he liked so much. Then her lips curled to form a smile and she said, I do.

I have realized lately that all my previous posts were written in a bit serious tone and sounded much like lectures. So just an effort to write something that doesn't make sense :-)

I was hoping to see an interesting twist at the end - if you have not yet read, try reading "A Twist In The Tale" by Jeffrey Archer.

Brilliant one...for a first timer :) Though I'd consider the story...more of a fairy tale...:P

Well not all stories end sadly...that is the point here. Will try to develop more complex plots in future. :-)
